Catchafire is a social enterprise that pairs experienced professionals with nonprofits and social enterprises who need assistance. In this audio interview, CEO and founder Rachael Chong speaks with Stanford Center for Social Innovation correspondent Ashkon Jafari about how Catchafire started and how the organization conducts outreach. She explains their funding model and how they use advisors, and gives examples of some of their projects. Chong also discusses some of the organization’s challenges and goals.

Rachael Chong is founder and CEO of Catchafire. After leaving a career in corporate finance to work in microfinance, she helped start-up BRAC USA, the US affiliate of BRAC, one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the world. There, Chong created a strategy to effectively mobilize dozens of skills-based volunteers that freed up her and the CEO's time to raise $40 million in less than nine months. She also pioneered a program that brought eleven Duke students to the rural Bangladeshi countryside for three months. Chong has a masters of public policy from Duke University and graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College at Columbia University.
