Identity management is a concept that many enterprises are considering as a way to streamline internal processes, but there are many challenges to starting this process. Phil Blank, VP of Information Technology at ADP, explains the steps they undertook to move from a flawed and difficult system to a new identity management solution.

Phil argues that while it may seem otherwise, the technology is the simple part. The challenges really lie in changing business rules and corporate culture. In this talk at the Burton Group's Catalyst 2005 conference, he describes the situation at ADP prior to the implementation of an integrated identity management system, the process they went through to integrate the new system and the advantages they are realizing now.

Philip J. Blank has served as the VP of Information Technology for ProBusiness, a Division of ADP National Accounts since September of 2000. As such, he is responsible for all infrastructure and operational technology initiatives including the implementation of a automated Provisioning/Identity management system. Prior to joining ProBusiness, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of MadeToOrder.com, Worldwide Director of Customer Relationship Management at Bay Networks/Nortel Networks, Director of Technology and Systems Information at Mobile Information Systems, Vice President of Management Information Services at NCM Direct Delivery, and Director of Computer Information Services at Amdahl Corporation.
